When anyone mentions Factory records and design the name Peter Saville normally follows, but Central Station Design were just as responsible for creating Factory records amazing visual output. For me personally Central were the stars and their anarchic and vibrant designs are a stark contrast to Savilles controlled and austere work.
Their designs for Happy Mondays Bummed and Wrote for Luck records are some of my favourite ever pieces of design. Heres a great article from Creative Review all about them.
A great piece of artwork on the cover of Florence & The Machine’s latest release ‘Dog Days are over’ some original thinking triumphs over cgi. A good tune too.
